Community Organizer
I've spent 30 years involved in Non-Profit work, invested in my Chelsea community.
I was honored to receive the Dr. Elliot Award for Community Service in 2013. This video highlights my work in community organizations such as the Hudson Guild, the Rubin Museum of Art, and the Chelsea Block Association.
For more details on my volunteer experience, see below or view my full non-profit resume.
1997-Present
Member of Board of Trustees of this 120-year-old+ multi-service social agency.
I was really the only "finance" or "numbers" person on the board when I joined. I became treasurer and served for a number of years. I was instrumental in transitioning the Guild to eventually farm out its accounting services to a third party. Subsequently, we built a strong finance team on the board.
When I joined the board, I think I was the only member who actually lived in the Chelsea community. I was a strong voice over the ensuing years encouraging the board to bring people from the Chelsea community onto the board. Today, I think over half the board lives or works in Chelsea.
I also contributed to the concept of expanding the Guild's footprint outside of the immediate Chelsea neighborhood by leveraging our strongest and most effective programs which could be managed centrally. Today we serve a broad swath of the west side of Manhattan.
